Q: When should I schedule my move?
A: As soon as you are sure of your moving date you should schedule your movers right away. 20-30 days prior to your move is usually plenty of time to guarantee most any high demand moving date. Off peak dates are normally Monday - Thursday and require less lead time than Friday - Sunday dates which are normally in high demand. End of the month moves (26th - 31st) regardless of the day of week, are typically the most high in demand and require the most lead time to schedule. In addition, the 'end of the month rush' can often bleed into the first week of the following month, so as a rule of thumb it is always wise to schedule these high demand moving dates as far in advance as possible once you are certain of your moving date.
Q: Can I leave stuff in my dresser drawers or should I empty them into boxes?
A: This is probably the most asked moving question of all time! Yes, you may leave clothing and linen items in your dresser drawers and please leave drawers in the dresser. Please make sure not to over-stuff the drawers and do not leave papers, breakables, valuables or anything other than clothing or linen in the drawers.
Q: How many wardrobe cartons will I need and can I get them prior to my moving date?
A: The Free Wardrobe cartons come on moving day and are Free for your use for the the day of the move (local moves only). You may load your wardrobe cartons while the movers are moving out your other items or you may opt to have the movers load them for you. You may have them delivered prior to moving day for an additional fee. Each wardrobe carton is 20" wide and 45" tall. So if you go to your closets and gently push your clothes together on the bar, you will need 1 wardrobe carton for every 20" of hanging clothes. Items like shoes, umbrellas and other small misc. lightweight and unbreakable closet stuff may also fit in the bottoms of these cartons allowing for a nearly hands free closet move.
Q: What time do the movers normally start?
A: There are generally two time slots available for your move to begin. Morning appointments are normally scheduled for arrival between 0800 -0900 am. If your move will not take a full day to complete you may opt for an afternoon start time window 12 -2 pm. Afternoon appointments are generally subject to the completion of a small job in the morning and your movers should call by noon to advise you of their actual arrival time.
Q: Are there any household items the movers will not or cannot move?
A: Hazardous items which are flammable, corrosive or explosive cannot be moved in the moving truck.
